Women in Music is an organization with a mission to advance the awareness, equality, diversity, heritage, opportunities, and cultural aspects of women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment, and recognition. Our seminars, panels, showcases, achievement awards, and youth initiatives celebrate the female contribution to the music world, and strengthens community ties.
We are humbled by the diverse group we brought together for this album. Not only diversity in gender, but in culture, in ethnicity, and in craft this album is meant to supercede boundaries put on us whether its by gender, identity, sexuality, race, religion or any other labels. It is a symbol of our intention to go out into the real world - not looking at music black and white but in full color. Solely created by Berklee undergraduate and graduate students, this album consists of 8 original songs and 2 cover songs. Our goal for this album was to create a channel where both men and women can create together and be the change that the music industry wants to see.
